World Mental Health Day 2026: “Changing your perspective also shifts your environment”

10 OCTOBER: WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

To commemorate World Mental Health Day 2026, the Adecco Foundation seeks to increase awareness about the need for inclusive workplaces where individuals with disabilities due to mental health conditions can equally develop their talents.

To achieve this goal, we are launching a video campaign starring Javi Martín, an actor, presenter, and ambassador for the Adecco Foundation, who has bipolar disorder.

The campaign encourages us to consider that talent requires opportunities and an environment free of barriers and stigmas, one that supports its growth. We all need to change how we view things.

What topic are we focusing on this World Mental Health Day?

This year, our goal is to expand the discussion on mental health at work and explore ways to foster true inclusion.

Building more inclusive organisations involves:

  • Assessing recruitment and induction procedures to eliminate barriers.
  • Promoting leadership grounded in trust, active listening and flexibility.
  • Making necessary adjustments to adapt the work organisation.
  • Encouraging a culture where discussing mental health is normal and stigma-free.

Transforming the environment to nurture talent

In Spain, over 450,000 people of working age have a disability caused by a
mental health diagnosis. However, many continue to struggle with accessing employment or advancing their careers because of prejudice, misunderstandings, and unsuitable environments. In fact, only 29.8% are economically active, that is, they are in employment or seeking work

True inclusion happens when we move from focusing only on individual needs to actively ensuring equal opportunities for all.

Therefore, the Adecco Foundation has developed a guide for fostering mentally healthy workplaces, informed by focus groups with companies and individuals with psychosocial disabilities. This has helped us identify key challenges organizations encounter regarding mental health and provided us with guidelines to promote more inclusive work environments.

Organisations supporting the Adecco Foundation’s World Mental Health Day 2026:

Mental Health Day at the Adecco Foundation

The Adecco Foundation is dedicated to enhancing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities stemming from mental health diagnoses and helping organisations foster more inclusive workplaces.

By raising awareness, providing advice, and sharing best practices, we help organisations recognise barriers, implement reasonable adjustments, and create opportunities for talent to thrive equitably.

In 2025, our Mental Health programme supported 893 individuals with psychosocial disabilities by providing training, guidance, and employment assistance.

Guide ‘Mentally Healthy Companies’

Fundación Adecco presents “Mentally Healthy Companies”, a guide designed to promote the inclusion of people with psychosocial disabilities and help organizations build healthier, more inclusive and more human work environments. This commitment goes beyond addressing a specific need: it is about changing perspectives and transforming cultures, practices and ways of relating to one another so that everyone can develop their talent, feel valued and be part of more sustainable and inclusive organizations.
